RALEIGH—A check presentation ceremony will recognize Gaston County Housing Rehabilitation in Stanley on May 15 in celebration of more than 20,000 homeowners who have been helped thanks to the NC Housing Finance Agency’s Urgent Repair Program (URP). The ceremony will be held at a home that received repairs financed by the program.
Since 1994, URP has been a key component in the tool kits of local governments, regional organizations, community action agencies and other nonprofit sponsors. Funding is provided to these groups to allocate loans to very low-income homeowners for emergency repairs to correct safety hazards, or to make accessibility modifications to homes for elderly citizens, veterans or people with disabilities. More than 200 organizations in all 100 counties have received URP funding to date.
